A small spacecraft with interstellar warp capabilities the Vulcan Shuttle Surak is an elegant craft that reflects the sleek simplicity of traditional Vulcan engineering and design. The shuttle consists of two separate modules: a detachable crew cabin and a needle-like warp sled. The detachable cabin module has only short-range thruster powered flight capabilities, primarily utilized for delicate docking manoeuvres with other spacecraft.
The Surak was used to transport Spock from Vulcan to the newly refit U.S.S. Enterprise in 2271 just prior to the V'Ger incident. The shuttle design was used occasionally by the Federation as well - those shuttlecraft are distinguished by regulation Starfleet paint schemes and markings.
One of the most striking designs from "Star Trek The Motion Picture" this specially enhanced re-issue of the Vulcan Shuttle in 1:187th scale features newly-tooled accurate details, including docking skids for the crew module, which now attaches securely to the improved warp sled with powerful neodymium magnets (included)
The kit also features an all-new comprehensive decal set for the panelling details as well as Vulcan and Federation markings. The model consists of over 25 plastic parts moulded in the correct mauve colour as seen on the original filming miniature and includes detailed instructions. The assembled kit measures approximately 10 inches long and includes a new display stand with metal support rod.
This special release features a new box illustration by the ship's original designer Andrew Probert.
